Later on when the depot became vacant in 2018 I suppose I could have moved the Norton but decided to leave her parked there for other reasons; my parents in law, and later my mother in law, were so used to it that I passed every weekend and were scared that when I moved the Norton back I wouldn’t stop by anymore. That of course was nonsense, as I also ran grocery errands for them and would have stopped by anyhow. But to reassure them, I left the Norton there.
However things change; Sunday 7th of October I received a phone call at 7h15am from my mother in law; she fell, again, and couldn’t get up. The 8th time she fell since 2013. Rushing over, I managed to get her back on her bed but it became more and more obvious that she couldn’t stay by herself any longer. She was moved to a medical retirement home. Though her wish had always been to stay at their home, back then, I already feared it may not have been possible any longer and as consequence, the Norton was all alone parked there. Hence I decided to move the Norton back to our place.

At the same time I also recontacted Constant from Holland Norton Works for a replacement of the Norton’s ignition contact.
As soon as I received the new ignition contact and started to replace it I noticed it wasn’t the same; the current one was a Lucas 35351A, the new contact a 30552.

Strangely, on the old ignition contact there was also a "jumper" which connected two contacts. No clue what its function was. (perhaps to make contact in case one lost the key?)
After measuring and finding the correct corresponding contacts, the new Lucas 30552 ignition contact was installed. So far, I haven’t noticed any bad or weak contact, the oil pressure indication lights up as should, not "weakly"

Plus tard quand le dépôt devenait vacant en 2018 j’aurai pu rapatrier la Norton mais j’avais décidé de la laisser à Sèvres pour des autres raisons; mes beaux parents, et plus tard ma belle mère avaient tellement pris l’habitude que je passais tous les weekends qu’ils avaient peur que je ne passerai plus si j’enlevais la Norton. Ce qui était ridicule bien sûr parce que je faisais aussi des courses pour eux et j’y serai passé de toute façon. Pour les rassurer j’avais laissé la Norton chez eux.
Malheureusement les choses changent dans la vie; Dimanche octobre 7 j’avais reçu un appel au secours à 7h15 de ma belle mère. Elle était tombée encore un fois et n’arrivais plus à se mettre debout. La 8ième fois depuis 2013 qu’elle tombait. Je me suis pressé chez elle, réussi à lui remettre sur son lit mais il devenait de plus en plus claire qu’elle ne pouvait vraiment plus rester seule. Elle a déménagé dans un EHPAD. Elle avait toujours désiré de rester à sa maison mais je craignais déjà que ce n’était vraiment plus possible. De coup la Norton se trouvait seule à Sèvres et j’ai pris la décision de rapatrier la Norton chez nous.

A la même occasion j’ai aussi recontacté Constant de Holland Norton Works afin de remplacer le contact d’ignition pour la Norton.
Dès que je l’avais reçu je voulais le remplacer mais ce n’était pas le même model; le contact actuel est un Lucas 35351A, le nouveau un Lucas 30552.

Curieusement l’ancien contact possédait un "jumper" qui pouvait connecter deux contacts. Aucune idée quelle en était la fonction. (avec de recul, pour pouvoir démarrer quand on avait pommé la clé ?)
Après avoir mesuré et trouvé les contacts correspondants du nouveau contact d’ignition Lucas 30552 je pouvais l’installer. Depuis je n’ai plus remarqué le mauvais contact où la lumière indiquant la pression d’huile s’allume très "faible".

Later, toen de garage vrij kwam in 2018 had ik de Norton wel kunnen verplaatsen maar besloot toch maar deze in Sèvres te laten; m’n schoonouders, en later m’n schoonmoeder, waren er zo aan gewend geraakt dat ik ieder weekend langs kwam en waren bang dat ik niet meer langs zou komen als ik de Norton terug zou halen. Wat natuurlijk onzin was, ik deed ook boodschappen voor hun ieder weekend die ik langs bracht en zou dus toch wel langs komen maar om ze gerust te stellen liet ik de Norton maar bij hun.
Helaas veranderen dingen in het leven; op zondag 7 oktober kreeg ik om 7h15 een belletje van m’n schoonmoeder in paniek; ze was, weer, gevallen en kon niet meer overeind komen. De 8ste keer dat ze viel sinds 2013. Als een speer er naar toe kon ik haar weer op haar bed krijgen maar het werd meer en meer duidelijk dat ze niet meer alleen kon blijven. Dus werd ze naar een medisch verzorging tehuis gebracht. Ook al dat ze altijd aangaf thuis te willen blijven wonen, was ik al bang dat dat nu écht niet meer mogelijk was en dus stond de Norton daar ineens alleen. Dus toen maar besloten de Norton terug naar huis te verplaatsen.

Op hetzelfde moment weer contact met Constant van Holland Norton Works opgenomen voor een vervanging van het contact slot voor de ontsteking.
Zodra ik het nieuwe had ontvangen en deze wilde vervangen merkte ik al dat het niet hetzelfde model was; het huidige contact was een Lucas 35351A, het nieuwe contact een Lucas 30552.

Nieuwsgierig genoeg zat er op het oude contact slot ook een "jumper" welke twee contacten verbond. Die zou daar niet moeten zijn en geen idee wat de functie was. (waarschijnlijk om contact te maken als de sleutel kwijt was?)
Na de plaatsing van de contacten van het nieuwe contact slot te hebben doorgemeten en de overeenkomende gevonden te hebben was het nieuwe contact slot geïnstalleerd. Sinds heb ik het niet meer gezien dat er slecht of "zwak" contact was en het rode olie lampje licht op zoals het hoort.
